After the elevators at a New York City skyscraper begin inexplicably malfunctioning, putting its passengers at risk, mechanic Mark Newman and reporter Jennifer Evans begin separate investigations. The police get involved and suspect that terrorists are responsible, but a far stranger explanation looms.
